The code

11 articles. Read them once — they don’t change often.

This is the whole rulebook. It fits on one page because there is nothing to hide in it — no pricing, no tiers, no ranking to explain away. Where a number appears, it’s the current setting; if it changes, active members hear first.

  1. Article I

    Spots

    • Every city has 500 spots. One each. Per city, not in total — a full Auckland does not keep Wellington waiting.
    • A spot is yours while you’re active. It is not yours forever, and it was never for sale.
    • The number is set by the crew and can change. Active members hear first.

  2. Article II

    Money

    • There is no subscription, no premium tier, no boost, no paid placement, and no way to pay for a better position in the queue.
    • Nobody here earns anything from you staying. The whole design assumes we’d rather you left.
    • If the money ever has to work differently, this article changes first and active members are told in writing before it does.

  3. Article III

    Who can contact you

    • Nobody can message you until you have liked them back. There is no stranger inbox and no request folder.
    • Nobody can pay, boost or bribe their way in front of you. There is nothing to buy, for anyone.
    • Unmatch at any time, from inside the chat. They are not told, and they cannot see you again.

  4. Article IV

    LinkedIn

    • You need one. A public profile URL, your real name, your real work.
    • Sign in with LinkedIn and you’re verified. Paste a URL instead and a human checks it before you’re approved.
    • Your LinkedIn is shown to active members only — as a badge and a link on your card.

  5. Article V

    Activity, and the plank

    • Active means you liked or passed on someone, sent a message, or edited your profile. Opening the app does not count.
    • 5 days idle: a warning banner and an email.
    • 7 days idle: you walk the plank. Your spot goes to the first person waiting in your city, immediately.
    • The crew can plank on sight for conduct. No warning is owed.

  6. Article VI

    Sailing off

    • Found someone? Either of you can propose to sail off from inside the match. The other confirms.
    • You leave together. Two spots free up. The public counter ticks up by one.
    • Decline, and nothing changes. Nobody is told.

  7. Article VII

    The waitlist

    • Approved but your city is full? You wait, in order of when you applied, behind people waiting for your city only.
    • Promotion is automatic and immediate whenever a spot frees — plank, sail-off, or crew decision.
    • You can see your position. You cannot buy a better one, and no one else can either.
    • The crew approves for balance. If one side of a city is running ahead, that side waits longer. This is deliberate.

  8. Article VIII

    Conduct

    • Be decent. Respect a no the first time. Don’t harass, don’t pester, don’t screenshot.
    • Report anything with the report button on any card or chat. A human reads every report.
    • Harassment, dishonesty about who you are, or being a creep gets you removed — no warning, no cooldown, no re-application.
    • Nothing you report is scored, ranked or automated away. There is a person on the other end and they answer.

  9. Article IX

    Privacy

    • Profiles are visible to active members only. Not to the public, not to the waitlist, not to anyone who has left.
    • Your LinkedIn URL is visible to active members only.
    • Public stats are counts, never names.
    • We don’t sell data and we don’t run ads. There’s nothing to sell that wouldn’t sink the whole idea.

  10. Article X

    Re-application

    • Walked the plank? You can re-apply after 30 days. You go to the back of the queue.
    • Sailed off and it didn’t work out? Sorry. Re-apply any time; the crew reads it like any other application.
    • Removed for conduct? No.

  11. Article XI

    The fine print

    • 18+. No exceptions.
    • The crew — that’s the founder, for now — approves, rejects, planks and reinstates at their discretion. It’s a small operation.
    • The code can change. Active members will be told before it does.
